How to replace RO Membrane?

I hope every industry has a RO plant in their firm from where the associates or workers can consume water. And you all are aware that it is a machinery object, so, every machinery object requires to be maintained properly to run smoothly.

Every reverse osmosis system has an RO membrane in it which helps in the process of filtration. As it is a continuous process thus all the dust and dirt which are separated from the water by the membrane gets stuck on it while processing for a long time. So it needs to be changed on every 1 year of interval.

There are certain concerns one must look at before deciding to change the RO Membrane which is very crucial for the smooth performance of the RO System.

So, Before Choosing the RO Membrane:

  • One must take a look at the brand being used. If your product is a branded one, then it’s good for use or else it can get damaged.
  • The RO membrane should be covered in a proper packaging unit before they are installed. Packaged goods mean it’s a new one.
  • The service person who comes to your home for changing the RO membrane should wash their hands before performing any task.
  • An RO system service kit comes in handy while making such replacements as it helps keep your system at peak performance.

Today I am here to discuss with you the process by which you can change the RO membrane of your system easily within 5 small steps.

Step 1: Turn off the water supply line and close the ball valve on the RO storage tank. This is typically done by turning the blue ball valve on top of the tank anticlockwise.

Step 2: Open the RO faucet and allow the pressure in the system to bleed off. While doing this place a shallow tray under the filter so that the water doesn’t fall on the ground.

Step 3: Disconnect the tubing from the membrane housing cap and unscrew the membrane housing to take out the RO membrane. You may require needle nose pliers to do so.

Step 4: You can label each tube so that it becomes easier while reconnecting. Two clips hold the membrane housing place, one needs to remove the clips to rinse the inside part.

Step 5: Finally enter the new membrane into the membrane housing and reconnect the tubes fitting the faucet to it. Finally, the RO is ready to be reused.

At the same time, it is also necessary to clean the RO spare parts so that it works smoothly. The other RO spare parts like sediment filter, carbon filter, and polishing filter need to be changed every 6-12 months. Replacement of the RO spare parts becomes an essential part as it helps in the smooth operation of the RO system.
